Heratio
By Genevieve Adam
Directed by Helen Juvonen
Contract Dates: July 7-August 24 and there will also be a three day workshop in April (dates TBD)
Guild Festival Theatre is excited to present the World Premiere of Heratio. Picking up the story of Hamlet where Shakespeare left off, Heratio focuses on the story of the women and servants who are left to clean up the messes left behind by princes and kings.
Fortinbras is set to take over the throne of Denmark but there are still a few questions to clear up about who is responsible for all those deaths and who gets to claim revenge. Filled with humour, mystery and melancholy, Heratio will make you question everything you think you know about Hamlet.
Roles available:
Horatio (female, 30+) - deep in mourning after Hamlet's death, Horatio must pull himself (herself?) together to solve the mysteries of Elsinore
Violet (female, 30+) - head washerwoman in the castle of Elsinore. Full of secrets, heartbreak, and sass.
Fortinbras (male, 30+) - prince of Norway, king-in-waiting. Confident and charming but still learning the ways of Elsinore.
Queen (female, 45+) - Tired of being the dutiful wife and ready to seize power for herself, no matter the consequences.
Age ranges are a guideline only - if you feel you are suitable for a role, please submit. We strongly encourage applications from actors of diverse backgrounds and gender expressions.
Experience in classical theatre, physical theatre and acapella singing are strong assets.
We are committed to diverse, inclusive casting and welcome submissions from artists of all backgrounds and identities.
